UAE Exchange waiting for the Reserve Bank of India new rules for Applying Universal Banking Liscense

UAE Exchange & Financial Services will apply for a universal banking licence once the RBI’s final guidelines on this front are issued this fiscal, its Managing Director Mr George Antony has said. “We will only go in for universal banking licence.

UAE Exchange will not go for payment panks or small to medium size bank which is evident from the  following thoughts of Managing Director of UAE Exchange, there is no interest on our part for either payments bank or small bank licence,” Mr Antony told. Antony said a payments bank licence would not be suitable for the UAE Exchange as such a structure will not allow it to undertake lending operations. As of now UAE Exchange is having a loan business mostly of Personal loan size of 450 Crores inIndia.

RBI has introduced changes in BASEL III Bonds

 Reserve Bank of India has brought a number of changes in bonds issued under Basel III international banking norms as a way to make it easier for banks to raise capital and also to make such bonds attractive for investors.The first part of the change is , the minimum maturity period of such bonds have been introduced and banks have been allowed to tap retail investors. as presently the share of retail investors in the bond market is very very low as compared to other developed economies.

Reserve Bank of India informed banks can issue any kind of papers to retail investors, including tier-I bonds and tier-II perpetual bonds, provided they made sure that such bond buyers fully understand the complexity and risks of such investment. To broaden the investor base, Reserve Bank of India halved the maturity of the bonds from 10 to 5 years, paving the way for the local lenders to raise money through such bonds in the international market. Now RBI is hoping that with these changes there will be increase in the number or investors for the bonds from the retail side

Future: - A transferable futures contract that specifies the price at which a currency can be
bought or sold at a future date. Currency future contracts allow investors to hedge against
foreign exchange risk.

Option: -A contract that grants the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell
currency at a specified exchange rate during a specified period of time. For this right, a
premium is paid to the broker, which will vary depending on the number of contracts
purchased. Currency options are one of the best ways for corporations or individuals to hedge
against adverse movements in exchange rates.

Initial Public Offer (IPO) / Follow On Public Offer (FPO) Explained

IPO: - The first sale of stock by a private company to the public. IPOs are often issued by
smaller, younger companies seeking the capital to expand, but can also be done by large
privately owned companies looking to become publicly traded.

FPO: - An issuing of shares to investors by a public company that is already listed on an
exchange. An FPO is essentially a stock issue of supplementary shares made by a company
that is already publicly listed and has gone through the IPO process.

Offer For Sale (OFS)
A method of bringing a company to the stock market by selling shares in a new issue. The
company sponsor offers shares to the public by inviting subscriptions from investors.
(a). Offer for sale by fixed price - the sponsor fixes the price prior to the offer.
(b). Offer for sale by tender - investors state the price they are willing to pay.

A strike price is established by the sponsors after receiving all the bids. All investors pay the
strike price.

Equity Market- An Introduction

A stock or any other security is representing an ownership interest. A equity market is a public
entity (a loose network of economic transactions, not a physical facility or discrete entity) for
the trading of company stock (shares) at an agreed price; these are securities listed on a stock
exchange as well as those only traded privately.

Major Exchanges were trading takes place are NSE (National Stock Exchange), BSE (Bombay

Cash Segment
The cash equity market is the same thing as the stock market. It's where companies raise cash
by selling shares of ownership and where investors buy and sell those shares of ownership.

Derivatives Segment
A security whose price is dependent upon or derived from one or more underlying assets. The
derivative itself is merely a contract between two or more parties. Its value is determined by
fluctuations in the underlying asset. The most common underlying assets include stocks,
bonds, commodities, currencies, interest rates and market indexes. Most derivatives are

characterized by high leverage.

Future :- A contractual agreement, generally made on the trading floor of a futures
exchange, to buy or sell a particular commodity or financial instrument at a predetermined
price in the future. Futures contracts detail the quality and quantity of the
underlying asset; they are standardized to facilitate trading on a futures exchange.
Some futures contracts may call for physical delivery of the asset, while others are
settled in cash.

 Options: - A financial derivative that represents a contract sold by one party (option
writer) to another party (option holder). The contract offers the buyer the right, but not
the obligation, to buy (call) or sell (put) a security or other financial asset at an agreed upon
price (the strike price) during a certain period of time or on a specific date
(exercise date).
Call options give the option to buy at certain price, so the buyer would want the stock
to go up.
Put options give the option to sell at a certain price, so the buyer would want the stock
to go down.
